Cedar Hill Shires is located in south central Wisconsin just outside Wisconsin Dells, a major tourism vacation spot. Established in 2003 with the first shire has grown into quite the hobby and one we plan to grow in the coming years when time allows. Our breeding goal is to produce lines that other breeders can use in their lines, we focus on Ithersay Courage, Clarach Gay Aristocrat and Hillmoor Prince Charles lines. If you're new to Shires you can read more about those stallions by clicking the link to the left. We try to stay with black, our color of choice but you may see some bay foals as we outcross our Aristocrat ladies to the Hillmoor Prince Charles lines. Draft horses are changing from the working horse they were to a more refined modern animal, we acknowledge that but continue to follow England's Shire Horse Society standard that the horse must have proper girth and style. Check the links to learn more about what we breed for. We foal 2-3 foals a year and normally will offer to sell some of them. Foaling starts as early as February in our heated foaling barn and normally over by mid May. We are offering live foal cams and details will be on our home page after the first of every year. Our foals are taught to lead into the barn, tie, pick up feet, be clipped, load in trailer, trot and some hook to their dams for lessons. Pennwood's foal supplements are used for mineral and condition supplements. Mares are fed a quality diet that includes beet pulp, rice bran, sweet feed, supplements and quality hay. Our mares are giving lots of attention and top care, we'd love to have more but like to keep the quality and focus on the mares we have. |

We currently use artificial insemination to breed our mares and currently do not stand a stallion of our own. Check out our events page for shows we try to attend every year. |
